Project Management Module - Day 1

Today, 9th of July was my the first day of the Final year first semester module "Project Management". As one of the first steps to start on the module effectively, we were required to create a blog which would help to keep track of active participating in Project management module.

Expectation of this Module is to get a proper understanding of the four learning outcomes which will be used in a typical IT project. Those are;
  1. Drawing a charter for a project according to proper standards and procedures.
  2. Organizing and resourcing a project.
  3. Analyzing, planing and managing a project.
  4. Discriminating and critically evaluating techniques used to improve the success of a project.

What do I know about Project Management so far is based on the projects/assignment I have completed during this past two year time. As for those, I could mention that analyzing, planing and managing a typical IT project using scheduling, monitoring and techniques, risk assessment to improve the success are some of the areas which are within the range of my knowledge as for now.

How it will help your professional life: as an Software Engineering undergraduate, the knowledge in project management will be a highly required skills; specially when it comes to professional level. Proper understanding of project management and ability to use that knowledge at work could highly motivate your career path as an employee in IT field. As for the reason, the high rate of project failure could be taken. If proper project management could improve the success rate of a project, it would save lot of wastage of resources.

As for the first blog report on this, I would prefer to stop for now and to continue more regular posts in upcoming days. Appreciate your time spent for reading. Best Regards..
